A 55-year-old firefighter has died while working to contain a forest fire in the Karteres area of Lagada, Thessaloniki, according to a statement by the Fire Department.
The department’s announcement reads:
“Today, Sunday, 10 November 2024, in the midday hours, while extinguishing a fire in a forested area in Karteres, in the municipality of Lagada, Thessaloniki, five-year obligation firefighter Dikousis Paschalis of Konstantinou, aged 55, suddenly fell ill. He was transported to the 424 General Military Hospital of Thessaloniki, where he was pronounced dead.”
A preliminary investigation and Sworn Administrative Examination will be conducted to determine the circumstances and cause of his death.
